About Shimge
Shimge (Chinese: 新界; also known as 新界泵业 or Shimge Pump Industry) is a Chinese manufacturer specializing in water pumps, pumping equipment, control systems, and water-treatment solutions. Founded in 1984 in Daxi Town, Wenling, Zhejiang Province—a major hub for China’s pump manufacturing industry—Shimge has evolved from a small electrical appliance factory into a significant industrial group with an international market presence.[1]
Overview
Shimge operates primarily as a manufacturer of pumps and fluid equipment rather than consumer electronics or general machinery. Its products are engineered to move, pressurize, circulate, drain, or control water and other fluids. The company’s portfolio covers applications ranging from household water supply to agricultural irrigation, industrial water systems, HVAC circulation, water treatment, sewage handling, and commercial pumping.[1]
The company states its mission is to provide global pump and water-treatment system solutions while improving quality of life through fluid-management technology.[2]
Shimge is positioned as a Chinese pump manufacturer with a broad product portfolio, strong roots in agricultural and domestic sectors, and an expanding focus on industrial and intelligent systems for international export.

History
Foundation and early development
Shimge traces its origins to 1984, when Xu Shanfu established the Wenling Zhaoyang Household Electrical Appliance Factory in Daxi, Wenling, Zhejiang. This enterprise served as the predecessor to Shimge Pump Industry.[2] The location was strategic, as Daxi hosts a long-established pump-manufacturing cluster central to China’s pump industry.
A significant early milestone occurred in 1987 with the development of a screw pump. According to company history, this product filled a gap in the domestic Chinese market and helped establish Shimge’s reputation, marking its transition from a general electrical-equipment manufacturer to a dedicated pump producer.[2]
Expansion in the 1990s
During the 1990s, Shimge expanded its product portfolio. In 1990, the first water pump bearing the “Shimge” brand reportedly came off the production line.[3] In 1995, the introduction of small submersible electric pumps further solidified the brand’s position in agricultural and domestic markets.[3] The company was renamed Zhejiang Shimge Pump Co., Ltd. in 1997.[2]
Growth and agricultural leadership
In the 2000s, Shimge expanded into a broader pump-industry group by establishing subsidiaries in Jiangxi and Jiangsu and increasing its manufacturing capabilities.[2] Agricultural pumps became a particularly important sector; corporate history indicates that Shimge held the leading position in China’s agricultural-pump production and sales for nine consecutive years from 2006 to 2014.[2] This heritage explains the company’s extensive range of submersible, well, surface, and irrigation pumps.
Public listing and privatization
On 31 December 2010, Shimge was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under stock code 002532, marking its development into a publicly traded industrial company.[2] Following a restructuring period, the company completed privatization in July 2020 via an asset-restructuring process.[1] Consequently, Shimge is accurately described as a formerly publicly listed company rather than a current Shenzhen-listed entity.
Product portfolio
Shimge offers an extensive range of products categorized by application and design.[2]
Centrifugal pumps
Used for water supply, pressure boosting, industrial systems, and general fluid transfer. Models include single-stage centrifugal pumps, horizontal and vertical multistage centrifugal pumps, and stainless-steel multistage pumps.[2]
Submersible pumps
Designed to operate while submerged, these are critical for wells, irrigation, drainage, domestic water supply, agriculture, and sewage handling. Shimge offers families covering clean water, drainage, and sewage applications.[2]
Deep-well pumps
These systems, including 3-inch, 3.5-inch, 4-inch, and larger sizes, are designed primarily for groundwater extraction and water supply.[1]
Surface pumps
Surface-mounted options include peripheral pumps, self-priming pumps, automatic self-priming pumps, centrifugal pumps, and domestic booster pumps.[1]
Circulation pumps
Targeting building services such as HVAC and hot-water circulation, this category includes fixed-speed, variable-speed, electronic, and intelligent circulation pumps.[3]
Sewage and drainage pumps
Wastewater equipment includes submersible sewage pumps, drainage pumps, grinder pumps (such as the WQ-QG series), and sewage-handling systems.[2]
Application markets
Shimge products serve multiple sectors:[1]
- Residential: House water supply, well-water extraction, pressure boosting, garden irrigation, drainage, and domestic hot-water circulation.
- Agriculture: Irrigation, sprinkler systems, groundwater pumping, farm water supply, aquaculture, and agricultural drainage. Specific models like the QY multistage submersible pump are designated for agricultural use.[3]
- Commercial buildings: Water supply, pressure boosting, HVAC, circulation, and water transfer.
- Industrial: Process-water circulation, water transfer, cooling, pressure boosting, and general fluid handling.
- Water treatment: Equipment and solutions for water treatment and wastewater management.[1]
Technology and R&D
Shimge cooperates with academic and research institutions including Zhejiang University, Jiangsu University, China Agricultural University, Wuhan University, Tongji University, and Lanzhou University of Technology.[2] In 2013, the company established a technical R&D subsidiary in Hangzhou focused on automation and intelligent products.[2]
Technical development efforts have covered high-efficiency centrifugal pumps, multistage pumps, variable-frequency pumping, intelligent pump systems, energy-efficient pumping, and water-treatment technologies. The shift toward intelligent variable-frequency systems allows for better pressure control, reduced electricity consumption, automatic operation, and improved system efficiency compared to traditional fixed-speed pumps.[2]
Quality, standards, and patents
Shimge maintains formal management systems and holds certifications including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, CE, UL, GS, and RoHS compliance.[2] Its experimental center has obtained CNAS laboratory accreditation, allowing it to operate as a nationally recognized testing facility.[2]
The company reports having led or participated in drafting or revising more than 80 national and industry standards and accumulating over 900 authorized patents. These figures represent corporate claims rather than independently audited statistics.[3]
Manufacturing and international presence
Shimge operates six major brands, fourteen major product series, and 14 holding subsidiaries.[3] A key modernization initiative is the Wenling Eastern New Area project, with a reported total investment of approximately RMB 3.22 billion to support intelligent manufacturing.[3]
Internationally, Shimge exports to more than 140 countries and regions, utilizing distributors, regional centers, and local service networks.[1][2] This establishes Shimge as a recognizable export-oriented Chinese pump brand, particularly in markets where Chinese-made agricultural and water pumps are widely distributed.
Brand positioning and reputation
Shimge positions itself around three core concepts: high quality, cost-performance, and energy efficiency. Historically, the company pursued a “double-high strategy” combining high quality with high cost-performance, distinguishing it from low-cost generic manufacturers while remaining distinct from premium international brands.[2]
Unlike unbranded OEM factories, Shimge possesses characteristics of an established industrial brand, including dedicated R&D, extensive product families, international certifications, and after-sales infrastructure.[2] It has received awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize), the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, and recognition as a National Manufacturing Single Champion Demonstration Enterprise.[3]
While Shimge competes with multinational firms like Grundfos, Wilo, KSB, Ebara, and Xylem, its competitiveness varies by category. For residential or agricultural use, price-performance and availability are often prioritized, whereas industrial buyers may focus on lifecycle costs and engineering support.
