What used to read as bragging now reads as memorial: receipts people are reluctant to admit they almost didn’t take.

The F8 series is barely nine months old, and the fans who queue for every launch are wondering whether POCO’s yearly cadence has turned into a six-month one — and whether the phone they just bought at the new price is already half a generation stale.

So what does the brand answer with? The official Philippine launch page has already confirmed the bones of the F9 Ultra, which puts it beyond rumor-mill territory — and read against the price hike, the spec sheet is clearly constructed as a rebuttal.

Start with the silicon. The F9 Ultra carries the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s current top chip, and POCO claims an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108 — against roughly 3.7 million for the F8 Ultra. That is a generational jump, not a spec-sheet courtesy, and it is the number the brand needs to make “the price went up but so did everything else” believable. The 6.9-inch AMOLED panel runs at 185Hz with peak brightness reportedly reaching 4,500 nits; the launch page promises an “ultra-high 185FPS gaming experience,” because 185Hz is a number that exists mostly for the Mobile Legends and Call of Duty: Mobile crowd, and POCO knows exactly who it is talking to.

Then the part that has no rival at any price: a 200MP main camera with optical stabilization, joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto at 5x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide — the biggest single-generation camera leap POCO has ever made — and a 8,050mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Read that battery figure twice. No Samsung or Apple flagship comes remotely close, and it is the kind of hardware-per-peso flex the receipt thread respects. Sound by Bose returns with symmetrical stereo speakers and an independent subwoofer, a feature the launch page notes is exclusive to the Ultra. The pricing question remains. The leaked consensus — including a gadgets360 report on Philippine pricing — is that the Ultra will cost nearly twice as much as the Pro. • POCO F8 Pro — ₱39,999 is the TechRadar 4.5-star pick. Yes, it is ₱10,000 more than its launch price; no, there is nothing else at ₱40k with this exact combination of chip, build, and Bose audio.
• POCO F8 Ultra — ₱51,999 is harder to recommend at the new price — but if the F9 Ultra lands near ₱60,000 as some leaks fear, this 3.8K-sold flagship becomes the relative bargain again overnight.
