History
1976: The beginning
Tipco’s origins are rooted in pineapple. The company was established on 22 March 1976 under the name Thai Pineapple Co., Ltd. with registered capital of 10 million baht. Its first major manufacturing operation was a canned pineapple factory in Prachuap Khiri Khan, one of Thailand’s primary pineapple-growing regions.[4]
The original purpose was closely tied to Thai agriculture; the founder established the pineapple processing operation partly to support Thai pineapple farmers by creating a market for their produce.[5] At this stage, Tipco functioned fundamentally as an agricultural processing and export company rather than the consumer juice brand recognized today.
1989: Becoming a public company
Tipco entered the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 1989 under the ticker symbol TIPCO. The company subsequently changed its corporate name to Thai Pineapple Public Co., Ltd. in 1992.[6] This transition marked its evolution from a specialized pineapple processor into a publicly traded Thai food company.
1990s–2000s: Moving into beverages
Tipco gradually expanded beyond canned pineapple to develop consumer-facing food and beverage businesses. In 1993, the company established Tipco F&B Co., Ltd. to operate its ready-to-drink fruit juice business. This strategic shift moved Tipco closer to consumers by enabling the development of branded beverages rather than solely supplying processed fruit.[7]
In 2003, the company changed its name from Thai Pineapple Public Co., Ltd. to Tipco Foods (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd. to reflect its diversified food portfolio. It later became Tipco Foods Public Company Limited.[8]
Development of the Tipco juice brand
The modern Tipco brand is strongly associated with fruit juice. Rather than positioning itself as a conventional soft drink manufacturer, Tipco built its identity around fruit, natural ingredients, 100% juice, nutrition, wellness, premium fruit varieties, and Thai agricultural products.
Its current portfolio includes 100% Apple & Grape, 100% Pineapple, Red Grape, Kiwi & Grape, Prune & Grape, Pomegranate & Mixed Fruit, Cherry Berry, Mangosteen & Mixed Fruit, Coconut Juice, and other products.[9] Tipco also sells 100% Homsuwan Pineapple Juice, made from its distinctive Homsuwan pineapple variety. The company describes this product as not-from-concentrate (NFC) and highlights its pineapple pulp and vitamin C content.[10]
Tipco and pineapple
Pineapple remains central to Tipco’s identity, extending beyond juice sales to include cultivation, processing, product development, and agricultural research. Its processed fruit business encompasses canned pineapple, pineapple juice concentrate, crushed pineapple, pineapple in retort pouches, pineapple in plastic cups, tropical fruit products, aloe vera, and coconut products.
The company currently describes itself as one of Thailand’s top five pineapple manufacturers, with production intended for international-standard markets.[11] This connection to an underlying agricultural and fruit-processing supply chain distinguishes Tipco from beverage companies that simply purchase finished fruit ingredients from external suppliers.
Tipco Homsuwan
One of Tipco’s most distinctive agricultural developments is Homsuwan pineapple. Recognizing growing consumer demand for fresh pineapple, Tipco undertook a development program lasting more than 10 years to create a variety suitable for fresh consumption in the region around the Tenasserim mountain range.[12]
Tipco describes Homsuwan as a particularly sweet and aromatic pineapple associated with the company, which has since been incorporated into fresh pineapple and juice products.[13] This development illustrates Tipco’s evolution from a traditional farmer-processor model toward a more integrated approach spanning research, cultivation, processing, and branded consumer products.
Aura mineral water
Although Aura is a separate brand, it operates within the Tipco Foods business group. Tipco acquired a factory and the Aura mineral water business in 2004.[14] Aura is positioned as a natural mineral water brand originating from natural spring water in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai, where water passes through rock layers beneath mountainous terrain before being bottled at the source.[15]
This acquisition provided the Tipco group with a second major consumer beverage category alongside fruit juice. Both Aura and Tipco 100% Fruit Juice were recognized as No.1 Brand Thailand winners in their respective categories in 2023.[16]

Selected products emphasize features such as no added sugar, no added preservatives, and aseptic packaging.
Beyond consumer beverages
Tipco operates businesses across several segments of the food and agricultural value chain.
Beverage business
Ready-to-drink fruit and vegetable juices, plus related beverages.
Processed fruit
Pineapple and other agricultural products for domestic and export markets.[17]
Agricultural products
Fresh pineapple and agricultural product development, particularly through Homsuwan.
Plant and herbal extracts
Through Tipco Biotech, the company produces plant and herbal extracts used as ingredients in foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and medicines. The business provides both ingredient production and OEM/extraction services.[18]
Retail
Tipco has operated fresh fruit smoothie retail through Tipco Retail, extending the brand beyond packaged products.[19]
Health and wellness positioning
Over time, Tipco’s brand identity has shifted increasingly toward health and wellness. Historically a Thai pineapple processor and exporter, then a fruit juice company, it now positions itself as a food, beverage, and wellness company based on natural and agricultural ingredients. The company’s stated mission emphasizes bringing wellness to society and understanding consumer lifestyles rather than simply selling individual products.[20]
This strategic focus explains the portfolio’s expansion into vegetable juice, fiber-oriented beverages, superfruit products, mineral water, herbal extracts, and health-oriented products.
Tipco Biotech
Tipco Biotech is integral to the company’s long-term strategy. Established to conduct research and development involving plant varieties and plant extracts, its activities include the cultivation, processing, and extraction of Thai herbs and plants.[21]
In 2026, as Tipco celebrated its 50th anniversary, the company announced a stronger push into the health sector through a new Tipco Herbs direction, leveraging Tipco Biotech’s expertise in Thai herbs and industrial extraction.[22] This represents a significant strategic evolution from pineapple and fruit juice toward natural products, wellness, and health products.
International business
International business has been part of Tipco’s history since its founding as an export-oriented pineapple processor. Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion reported that Tipco-branded products had been exported internationally since 2005 and were available in 30 countries at the time of its 2015 Prime Minister’s Export Award profile. The company received the Prime Minister’s Export Award for Best Thai Brand in 2015.[23]
Consequently, Tipco functions as both a domestic Thai consumer brand and a Thai agricultural and food exporter.
Manufacturing and supply chain
A key characteristic of Tipco is its strong connection to agricultural production. Its first pineapple factory was established in Prachuap Khiri Khan, an important pineapple-growing region.[24] The company subsequently operated multiple production facilities in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ayutthaya, and Chiang Mai to serve different product needs.[25]
This manufacturing infrastructure supports Tipco’s proposition of controlling or participating in the journey from agricultural raw material to finished food and beverage.
Brand identity
Tipco’s branding encompasses several core themes:
- Natural: Fruit, vegetables, plants, herbs, and mineral water form the foundation of the portfolio.
- Thai: Despite international orientation, the brand maintains strong roots in Thai agriculture, particularly pineapple.
- Healthy: The portfolio emphasizes 100% juice, fruit nutrition, vegetables, fiber, superfruits, and wellness.
- Premium fruit: Homsuwan pineapple and premium/NFC products allow Tipco to compete above basic mass-market fruit beverages.
- Innovation: Tipco invests in agricultural R&D, extraction technology, and new beverage formats rather than remaining solely a canned fruit company.

Historical milestones are based primarily on Tipco’s own corporate history.[26]
Distinctive characteristics
Tipco’s primary distinction lies in its identity being rooted in fruit and agriculture rather than simply beverages. While typical beverage companies begin with a formula and source ingredients, Tipco’s development followed a reverse trajectory: Thai agriculture led to pineapple cultivation, which led to processing, fruit products, fruit juice, consumer wellness products, and eventually herbs and health products. This history explains why pineapple remains central to the company’s identity despite the prominence of packaged fruit juices.
Market recognition
In Thailand, Tipco is particularly recognizable for its boxed and bottled fruit juices, especially orange juice and 100% fruit juice. The brand occupies a position between a traditional fruit beverage and a health-oriented consumer brand, with marketing emphasizing intrinsic fruit qualities rather than conventional carbonated soft drink positioning.
In 2023, Tipco reported that Tipco 100% Fruit Juice and Aura Mineral Water were both No.1 Brand Thailand winners in their respective categories.[27] More recently, Tipco reported that its Sai Nam Phueng orange juice received a three-star Superior Taste Award in 2026, marking the sixth consecutive year it had received recognition from the International Taste Institute.[28]
Tipco in 2026
As of 2026, Tipco is celebrating 50 years since its founding in 1976. Rather than focusing exclusively on fruit juice, the company is building a larger health-and-wellness ecosystem around its agricultural expertise.[29] Its current direction integrates fruit, agriculture, science, wellness, and health.
The launch of the Tipco Herbs direction extends the company’s natural-ingredient heritage into standardized Thai herbal health products.[30]
Corporate structure vs. the Tipco brand
Tipco as a brand and Tipco Foods Public Company Limited as a corporation are distinct entities. The corporation owns and operates multiple businesses and brands:
- Tipco: Fruit juices and related beverages
- Aura: Natural mineral water
- Tipco Homsuwan: Fresh pineapple and agricultural products
- Tipco Biotech: Plant and herbal extracts and R&D
- Tipco Retail: Fresh fruit and smoothie retail activities
- Processed fruit business: Pineapple and other fruit ingredients and products
Corporate materials describe these beverage, processed fruit, agricultural, and extract businesses as interconnected parts of the broader group.[31]
Distinction from Tipco Asphalt
Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited is a separate Thai listed company and is not the same business as Tipco Foods. Tipco Foods (TIPCO) is associated with food, beverages, fruit, mineral water, and agricultural products, while Tipco Asphalt (TASCO) is an asphalt and road construction materials company.[32] When referring to the juice brand, the relevant entity is Tipco Foods Public Company Limited.
