Osmo Pocket 4P: Two Main Cameras in Your Pocket (Global launch: July 30)

The Pocket 4P is the biggest release of the season. The headline change: two main-grade cameras in a pocket gimbal body — a 1-inch CMOS wide-angle (20mm equivalent, f/2.0) paired with a 1/1.28-inch CMOS medium-tele (60mm equivalent, f/1.8), giving 3x optical zoom and up to 12x total. DJI markets it as a “pocket cinema camera,” and the confirmed spec sheet backs up the ambition:

The honest take. The 60mm tele solves the two classic Pocket complaints: faces distorted by close-range wide-angle, and subjects you can’t reach. Add Hasselblad-tuned color and D-Log 2, and this is the most complete pocket video tool DJI has made — the bundled fill light and 1/4-inch thread handle are genuine value for vloggers. But know its edges: vertical mode does not support 4K (a real limitation for TikTok/Reels creators), 10-bit D-Log 2 is limited to 1x zoom, and first-month supply has been tight, with purchase limits in China. It is not a perfect camera; it is a remarkably aggressive set of trade-offs in 230 grams.

Osmo 360 II: 8K60 and User-Swappable Lenses (Announced Aug 13, overseas in September)

If the 4P is about adding hardware, the Osmo 360 II is about fixing complaints. Pre-orders opened in China on August 7, the official unveiling followed on August 13, and international availability is expected within September. Confirmed and high-confidence upgrades: 8K60 panoramic video (up from 8K50), a bigger 2,150 mAh battery (up ~10% from 1,950 mAh) with 27W USB-C fast charging, WiFi 6 retained, and — the biggest structural change — user-replaceable lenses. The first-gen Osmo 360’s protruding lenses were its most fragile and expensive-to-repair part; making them swappable turns that weakness into a selling point. The sensor is rumored to remain a 1/1.1-inch CMOS, and pricing is expected to stay near the first gen’s US$450–580 range.

The honest take: this is a classic second-generation correction, not a revolution. If you own the original, there is no need to feel anxious. If you are choosing between the two, waiting for the September overseas launch and buying the II is the safer call — unless the first gen gets a clearance discount, which would be the value window.

The enterprise teaser and the rumor pipeline

Beyond consumer gear, DJI Enterprise teased a new public-safety drone on July 8 under the tagline “For the Priceless Below,” widely read as the Matrice 30 successor (the teaser shows extended landing gear and a gimbal payload). It matters mostly as a signal that DJI’s industrial line is iterating just as fast.

Then there is the rumor pipeline — worth tracking, not worth spending on: the Osmo Action 7 is expected around October–November 2026 (based on the ~11–13 month action-cam cycle), with a standard combo rumored at US$349–429; the Osmo Nano 2 surfaced in field-test leaks in mid-August but likely slips to 2027; and on the drone side, both an Air 4 (rumored sub-250g variant, dual 1-inch sensors) and an Avata 3 point to late 2026. None of this is confirmed.

The current lineup, for context

Understanding the new releases is easier with the current matrix in view: the Osmo Pocket 4 (April 2026, from ¥2,999 in China) remains the single-lens pocket standard; the Avata 360 (March 2026) is still the only 360° aerial camera, pairing 8K 360 imaging with O4+ transmission; and the Osmo Action 6 and Osmo Mobile 8 hold down the action-cam and phone-gimbal segments. Three observations for Filipino buyers:

First, new models reach the Philippines fast. The Pocket 4P went global on July 30 and is already purchasable locally — and its 885 sold actually outpaces the Pocket 4’s 400, suggesting strong local appetite for the dual-camera model. The catch is the import premium: ₱37,790 versus the ¥3,799 China MSRP (roughly ₱30,000 at current rates) is about a 25% markup; the Pocket 4’s ₱27,990 versus ¥2,999 (~₱23,700) carries roughly an 18% premium. If that stings, mega-sale dates (9.9, 10.10) and voucher stacks are your friends, since most of these listings ship locally from Bulacan or Laguna and qualify for fast delivery.

Second, beware the “from” price trap. Search results show an Osmo 360 listing at ₱3,420 with 1.5K sold and an Action 5 Pro at ₱3,490 — those are accessory SKU entry prices. The actual camera only shows its real price (₱23,990 for the 360) once you select the Standard Combo variation. Always compare on the camera SKU, not the listing headline.

Third, the Osmo 360 II is not on Lazada PH yet. As of late August, the first-gen Osmo 360 (~₱23,990) is what you can buy. Patient buyers should wait for the September international launch; bargain hunters should watch for first-gen clearance once the II arrives.

Compressed into three sentences: if you want the best pocket video camera of 2026, the Pocket 4P is the answer and the premium over China pricing is the cost of having it now; for 360° shooting, wait for the Osmo 360 II in September or catch the first gen on clearance; and everything else — Action 7, Air 4, Nano 2 — is still rumor, so sitting on your pesos costs nothing.
