History
Nestea was first launched in the United States in 1948 as an instant soluble tea. The product was developed using technology similar to that used for Nescafé, allowing tea to dissolve quickly in hot or cold water. As consumer demand for convenient beverages increased after World War II, Nestea expanded internationally and became one of Nestlé’s flagship beverage brands. [3]
During the 1990s, Nestlé partnered with The Coca-Cola Company through a joint venture called Beverage Partners Worldwide (BPW) to manufacture and distribute Nestea in many countries. This collaboration helped the brand achieve a strong global presence. Over time, distribution arrangements changed by market, and Nestlé regained direct control of the brand in several regions. In Spain, for example, Nestlé continued selling Nestea after its distribution agreement with Coca-Cola ended in 2024. [4]
