About Piattos
History
Piattos was launched by Universal Robina Corporation (URC), one of the Philippines’ largest food and beverage manufacturers. Although URC pioneered the Philippine salty snack market in the 1960s with products such as Chippy and Potato Chips, Piattos was introduced later as a premium-style potato crisp featuring a unique hexagonal shape and richer seasoning. It eventually became one of URC’s flagship snack brands alongside Chippy, Nova, and Pretzels. [1]
URC itself was founded in 1954 by John Gokongwei Jr. The company expanded from corn milling into branded consumer foods and has since become one of Southeast Asia’s leading snack manufacturers, exporting many of its products internationally. [1]
Products
Piattos consists of thin potato crisps made from dehydrated potato and starch-based ingredients. The chips are pressed into their signature hexagonal shape before frying and seasoning, giving them a uniform texture and a large surface area for flavoring.
Popular flavors include:
-
Cheese
-
Sour Cream & Onion
-
Roast Beef
-
Nacho Pizza (limited markets)
-
Truffle Cream (limited edition)
-
Various seasonal and regional flavors
Outside the Philippines, URC also produces localized Piattos flavors tailored to regional tastes, particularly in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian markets. Examples include seaweed- and sambal-inspired variants. [2]
Branding
Piattos is marketed under the Jack ‘n Jill brand, URC’s flagship snack portfolio. Its advertising has traditionally emphasized:

The bright-colored packaging varies according to flavor while maintaining the recognizable Piattos logo across markets.
