History
Foundation (1995–2004)
SAFOCO traces its origins to Food Store No. 4 (Cửa hàng Lương thực – Thực phẩm Số 4), which was established in 1995 pursuant to a decision by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Commerce. Initially operating as a food trading unit, the organization gradually expanded its scope to include food manufacturing.[3]
In 1999, the entity was renamed Safoco Food Enterprise (Xí nghiệp Lương thực Thực phẩm Safoco) under the management of the Southern Food Corporation. During this period, the company shifted its strategic focus toward processed food production.[4]
Equitization and corporate development (2004–present)
Safoco underwent equitization in 2004, transitioning from a state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company. On May 1, 2005, it officially commenced operations as Safoco Food Joint Stock Company with an initial charter capital of VND 22 billion.[5]
The company subsequently expanded both its capital base and production capacity. According to corporate disclosures, its charter capital has since increased to approximately VND 120.5 billion.[6]
