About Fibisco
History
Fibisco traces its origins to Filipinas Biscuit Corporation, which was established on January 23, 1959. Commercial production began in 1960, marking the company’s entry into the Philippine biscuit industry. The name FIBISCO is an abbreviation of Filipinas Biscuit Corporation. [2]
During its early years, the factory earned the reputation of producing “English Quality Biscuits.” This was because the manufacturing plant was designed by English consultants, equipped with English-made machinery, and initially managed by an English plant manager. These influences helped establish high manufacturing standards and product quality. [2]
On September 30, 1968, Filipinas Biscuit Corporation merged with two other pioneering Philippine food companies:
-
Commonwealth Foods, Inc. (coffee products)
-
Philippine Food Industries, Inc. (cocoa and chocolate products)
The merger created Commonwealth Foods, Inc. (Comfoods), which organized its operations into three divisions:
-
Cofi Division – Coffee products
-
Philfood Division – Cocoa and chocolate products
-
Fibisco Division – Biscuit and cookie products
Since then, Fibisco has operated as the biscuit division of Comfoods while retaining its well-established brand identity. [2]
